Agri Planet Africa’s CEO Joins Elite Global Agrifood Leadership Program

At Agri Planet Africa, we believe the seeds of today’s resilience grow into tomorrow’s thriving communities. Today, we are overjoyed to announce a remarkable milestone that reflects exactly that spirit of growth and global leadership. Our CEO, Ignatius Ahumuza, has been selected as one of only 10 young leaders worldwide for the Agrifood Leadership Education Programme (ALEP) 2025 Cohort, an initiative of the World Food Forum (WFF) under the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)! What is ALEP? The Agrifood Leadership Education Programme is a transformative program designed to empower youth to drive change in agrifood systems around the globe. Launched during World Food Day at FAO Headquarters in Rome in October 2024, ALEP partners with Real Food Systems (RFS) to offer a powerful combination of masterclasses, mentorship, and hands-on project development. ALEP’s three dynamic phases — Explore, Encourage, and Experience — guide participants through a journey of learning, innovation, and real-world impact: Explore: Ignatius and the global cohort are currently participating in masterclasses on communication, ethics, systems thinking, and agrifood systems. This foundational phase is about building the technical knowledge and leadership skills needed to tackle complex challenges with courage and creativity. Encourage: Later this year, participants will begin developing transformational agrifood projects rooted in what they’ve learned — with expert support to refine their ideas into action. Experience: Finally, Ignatius and the cohort will implement their projects and fly to Rome to present their results at a special celebration during World Food Day at FAO Headquarters — showcasing how ALEP has empowered both individuals and organizations like Agri Planet Africa to grow stronger and drive change. A Global Movement, A Personal Triumph Ignatius’ selection is not just a personal achievement — it’s a victory for our entire Agri Planet Africa community and the youth we serve. His participation ensures that the voices of African farmers, students, and entrepreneurs will be part of a global conversation on transforming food systems for the better. As we continue cultivating hope through sustainable agriculture and empowering rural communities through education, permaculture, entrepreneurship, and leadership, Ignatius’ role in ALEP strengthens our mission — connecting Agri Planet Africa to a vibrant international network of changemakers.
